Provide healthcare professionals with relevant educational methods and tools of professional quality that are developed quickly and regularly reassessed. This is the goal of “SOPHIA, Genevrier Foundation”.
The Sophia Experience
SOPHIA (SOPHIA, Genevrier Foundation) was created in November 2005 with the objective to help healthcare professionals meet their continuous education obligations, continuous assessment and improvement of the quality of practices (today, grouped under the new system of Continuous Professional Development; CPD part of the Hospital, Patient, Health and Territory bill) in reference to evidence-based medicine and proper use of medicinal products.
In other words, it consists of providing healthcare professionals with relevant and modern educational methods and tools of professional quality that are developed quickly and regularly reassessed.
Other company foundations in the health sector have generally a humanitarian character. The mission of our Foundation seems therefore original and innovative.
Our Foundation is endowed with related operating principles for implementation.
On one hand, independence: SOPHIA is governed by a cross-disciplinary and multi-professional executive board most of whom are qualified personalities and independent from the founding company.
The power of decision with respect to the allocation of available funds – endowment of more than three million Euros in the past nine years – shall remain vested in the Executive board which role is to drive and ensure effective implementation of the social purpose of the Foundation.
On the other hand, institutional partnership: Our Foundation has chosen to operate under co-productions with professional organisms (Professional National Councils, College of Best Practices, etc.) that determine the needs of healthcare professionals, thus training topics, and validate the scientific content of all SOPHIA’s developed programs by exploring new educational methods.
